Russell Brand Explains All the Dangerous Implications of CBDCs
Happy Monday! Everyone got an extra hour for the weekend, so let’s start this week off with a funny but seriously educational video. Actor, comedian and YouTuber Russell Brand does more in a 14 minute explanation on the dangers of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) than entire TED talks and white papers have on the subject.
CBDCs are digital cash, but unlike physical cash, which can be transacted anonymously, digital cash is fully programmable. And unlike crypto, it is neither decentralized nor built on the privacy made possible by blockchain technology. This means that CBDCs enable central banks to have direct insight into the identities of users; the central bank would have the power to block, surveil or censor any transaction.
Brand explains in a thoroughly entertaining way all of the worst aspects and implications of CBDCs, noting especially how unelected global bodies like the IMF, World Bank and World Economic Forum could collude with central banks to ignore or oppress ordinary people and implement a Chinese-style social credit score system. Definitely worth the watch, and definitely accessible to even those brand new to the crypto space.
